El álbum fue producido y parcialmente compuesto por su productor discográfico de toda la vida, John Farrar. Grabado y mezclado en el estudio de David J. Holman en Los Ángeles, con grabaciones adicionales en Ocean Way, Physical se convirtió en uno de los discos más controvertidos y sexuales de Newton-John. Bought this album as a 10yr old in 1981. Still have that LP, in fact! Played it constantly, day and night. The songs are top notch and the production is clean, crisp and state-of-the-art for that time.

I like just about anything by Olivia, but 1978-1985 were the years I was an exuberant fan. "Physical" and "Totally Hot" remain my favorite overall albums. With songs like "Physical", "Make A Move On Me", "Landslide", "Carried Away", "Falling" and "Stranger's Touch", the "Physical" album just hit all the right spots.

It's 2025 and I finally obtained a copy of this 2010 Japan SHM remaster! This is indeed the best this album has ever sounded on CD. I also have the Primary Wave 2021 deluxe edition, which is decent (especially good on the bonus tracks), but this particular remaster is THE one to own if you're a deep fan of this album. The inclusion of the awesome 1982 singles "Heart Attack" and "Tied Up" (both recorded during the "Physical" sessions, so they do truly do belong here), make it even more enjoyable! And the packaging replication is stunning. I remember hanging one of those posters on my wall!

Japan edition is crystal clear, yet still manages to maintain a warm analogue sound about it. Physical is Olivia’s most consistent album from her stellar career, and it’s a shame that she didn’t maintain this quality on subsequent releases.

I have no idea what high-performance devices people are using to complain about the sound, as this re-issue sounds absolutely perfectly fine to me! A fantastic re-issue of a historic album that includes so much exciting bonus material!

Bought second-hand with a cutout notch. Looks like it was lightly used, but it's a very noisy record, and I really feel like this is how it came out of the plant. Audio quality itself is good--I don't detect distortion as the other reviewer unfortunately does--but the clicks and pops are a definite distraction. This is a "hot" record--I had to dial gain back to -4 on my ART DJII preamp because it was clipping pretty solidly set to zero. Good thing it was cheap.

I've still got my original UK copy I bought with my pocket money back in '81, it's a little worn now but I've also since then added a couple of Japanese pressings one still with the OBI strip to my collection, it's an interesting album, from sexualy suggestive lyrics " There's nothing left to talk about unless it's horizontally" to songs about pesticides , yup pesticides "Silvery Rain" written by Hank Marvin, with Olivia sporting a hairstyle which when on to inspire the likes of Pat Bentatar.
So I thought I might as well pick up one of these shiny new 40th anniversary remastered pressing from Primary Wave.
My first impressions were of amazement as I'd not noticed before I had ordered that these are 180g I'm a virgin to these weights, so this is my very first 180g but it was inevitable really as I've been getting back into vinyl past decade, very nice heavy weight and feels solid in my hand, my mother around thirty years ago had been given an old Gramophone complete with old 78 shellac records, having never held a 180g record before I was immediately reminded of these heavy thick records which upon playing this remastered release, listening to it must have had an autosuggestion as it might sound strange but what I heard was the equivalent of what I felt holding it and feeling it's thickness and weight if that makes sense, particularly in the on side two track 9 "Recovery" the way Olivia's backing vocals are overdubbed.
One thing to point out is the resolution of the sleeve picture it's almost soft focus compared to my Japanese pressings sleeves, who's colours seem more deeper and the details more crisp and they're like 40 years old.
Final thought, I'm happy with my purchase, I was going to get the pink vinyl version before I settled on this vanilla black but I'm happy now as the pink vinyl isn't 180g so I'd only be buying it as a kinda gimmick, this version however I can literally feel the difference.

One side has the dreaded whooshing sound on each rotation. And both sides have loud pops throughout even after cleaning. Not a good pressing especially for a 40th anniversary. What is the recourse?

Vinyl and poster are beautiful, however the record has a lot of surface noise especially during the track "Physical" even after cleaning the record. I would avoid this particular pressing if possible.
